Rising energy prices

THE average Victorian household will pay an extra $300 for their energy bills this financial year, a new report has found.
A report by St Vincent de Paul Society also showed that average household energy bills – including electricity and gas – had risen by as much as $1100 in some regions, over the past four years.
During this time, the report found electricity prices increased by between 60 per cent and 80 per cent, and gas by between 45 per cent and 52 per cent, depending on the region and the energy retailer.
Average household electricity bills jumped an average 12.5 per cent on July 1, compared with January this year, and by 11 per cent for gas.
St Vincent de Paul Society’s policy and research manager, Gavin Dufty, says about 8 per cent of those increases could be attributed to the carbon tax.
He said investment in ”poles and wires”, green schemes and increased retailer costs had contributed to the overall price increases since 2008.
”During this time wholesale prices have actually fallen, so that means other factors are driving these increases, including investment in transmission and distribution, which is our poles and wires, government interventions such as smart meters, feed-in-tariffs and renewable energy targets, and increased retailer costs due to greater administration and regulatory compliance.”
The report found dual-fuel households – which use both gas and electricity – in the western region, including Hoppers Crossing, Werribee and the Geelong area, and northern Victorian towns such as Echuca, Shepparton and Heathcote will experience the largest price rises this year – up $315.
Households in the inner eastern suburbs, inner south-eastern and inner bayside suburbs, from Kew to Armadale and Toorak, St Kilda and Albert Park, are expected to experience the smallest rises – of $195. The report is based on standing offers, which are the retailers’ default prices without any discounts.
But those on discounted contracts – known as market offers – are expected to experience similar price rises, in percentage terms.
Mr Dufty said consumers could offset some of the price rises by shopping around.
”The report shows the difference between the single best market offer and the single worst standing offer can be up to $270 a year for average consumption households, and even more for high-consumption households,” he said.

अकबर बीरबल के चुटकुले

बादशाह की लाजवाब किताब

अकबर बादशाह ने एक पुस्तक लिखकर छपवाई थी. बादशाह उसे बहुत ही सुन्दर पुस्तक समझते थे. एक दिन बीरबल ने कहा - हुजूर ! आपने बड़ी कमाल की पुस्तक लिखी है . आज मैंने घीसा हलवाई के पास देखी थी. बादशाह ने पूछा - उसने पूरी पढ़ी थी ? क्या कहता था वह ? बीरबल ने कहा - हुजूर ! पढता न था ,वह तो उसमे चमचम बाँधकर  बेचता है. इस पर बादशाह को बड़ी खिसियाहट हुई और उन्होंने सब पुस्तक इकट्ठी करवा कर अग्निदेव को भेंट कर दी.  

रमजान का महीना

एक दिन बादशाह ने बीरबल से पूछा कि रमजान मास खुशी का होता है या बेखुशी का ? बीरबल ने कहा - हुजुर ! खुशी खुशी होती है । अकबर ने नाराज होकर पूछा - क्यों ? बीरबल ने कहा - हुजुर ! यदि खुशी खुशी न होता तो क्या उसके सिर में दर्द है जो हर साल बार -बार आता है । यह सुनकर बादशाह चुप हो गए ।  

काली ही न्यामत है

एक बार बादशाह और बीरबल सड़क पर आ रहे थे। उन्होंने क्या देखा कि एक कुत्ता बासी और जली हुई रोटी खा रहा है। बादशाह की माँ का नाम न्यामत और बीरबल की माँ का नाम काली था। बादशाह ने हँसी में कहा - बीरबल ! देखो कुत्ता काली को खा रहा है ।
बीरबल ने तुरंत ही जबाब दिया - हुजूर ! उसके लिए वही न्यामत है । यह सुनते ही बादशाह पानी पानी हो गए और कुछ भी न कहा ।  

खिजाब लगाने वालों के दिमाग नहीं होता

एक बार बादशाह खिजाब लगा रहे थे . वे मज़ाक में बीरबल को नीचा दिखाने के लिए बोले - बीरबल ! जो लोग खिजाब नहीं लगाते उनका दिमाग बड़ा रद्दी होता है. इस बात को सुनकर बीरबल ने उत्तर दिया - जहाँपनाह ! खिजाब न लगाने वालों का दिमाग तो ख़राब होता है , पर खिजाब लगाने वालों के दिमाग ही नहीं होता . उस दिन से बादशाह अकबर ने खिजाब लगाना छोड़ दिया .

आठ आठ बर्ष के राजकुमार

जब बादशाह अकबर की शहजादी १२ बर्ष की हो गयी ,तब उन्हें उसके विवाह की चिंता हुई । यह काम बीरबल सबसे अच्छा बना सकते थे। अतः बादशाह ने बीरबल को बुलाया और कहा - बीरबल ! कहीं कोई अच्छा सा १६ बर्ष का राजकुमार तलाश करो । बीरबल बादशाह का मतलब समझ गए और बोले - हुजूर ! अगर आठ आठ बर्ष के दो राजकुमार मिल जावें तो ? यह सुनकर बादशाह बड़े लज्जित हुए। 

बीरबल का चौका

एक दिन अकबर बीरबल दोनों गाँव की सैर को निकले . दोनों अलग अलग बैगाडियों में सवार थे . रास्ते में भूख लगी तो बीरबल समोसा निकालकर खाने लगे . बादशाह ने देख लिया और कहा - बीरबल ! तुम कैसे ब्राह्मण हो जो बिना चौका दिए ही खा रहे हो . इस पर बीरबल ने कहा - हुजूर ! चौका भी तो इसके गोबर का लगता है जो इसमें जुता है . बादशाह निरुत्तर हो गए .

मत टालो

हम सदैव इस बात का स्मरण रखें कि प्रत्येक क्षण हमारा जीवन क्षीणता को प्राप्त हो रहा है। हम इस क्षण के प्रभाव को रोक नहीं सकते, किन्तु अगर विवेक का आश्रय ले लें तो प्रत्येक क्षण हमारे जीवन का वरदान बन सकता है। इसके लिए आवश्यक है कि हम शीघ्रातिशीघ्र इस पाठ को याद कर लें कि आज का काम कल पर नहीं टालना है। अगर हमें यह पाठ याद हो गया तो फिर हमें कभी भी पछताना नहीं पड़ेगा। इस कथन को डोंगरे महाराज द्वारा प्रस्तुत इस प्रसिद्ध उदाहरण से समझने का प्रयास करें-
एक दिन धर्मराज युधिष्ठिर के पास कोई याचक आया। धर्मराज उस समय किसी आवश्यक काम में संलग्न थे। अत: उन्होंने याचक को दूसरे दिन आने को कहा। भीमसेन ने जब यह सुना तो तत्काल विजय-दुन्दुभि बजाने लगा। सबको आश्चर्य हुआ, क्योंकि विजय-दुन्दुभि तो युद्ध में विजय प्राप्त करने के पश्चात् बजाई जाती है और यहां तो ऎसा प्रसंग कोई नहीं था। फिर भीमसेन ने ऎसा क्यों किया? भीम ने कहा- आज बड़े भैया ने काल पर विजय प्राप्त कर ली है। उन्हें पूरा विश्वास है कि कल तक काल उनको स्पर्श नहीं कर सकता। कल तक वे निश्चित रूप से जीवित रहने वाले हैं। इसलिए उन्होंने याचक को कल आने को कहा है। चूंकि उन्होंने काल को जीत लिया, अत: मैं विजय-दुन्दुभि बजा रहा हूं। धर्मराज भीमसेन के कटाक्ष को समझ गए। उन्हें अपनी भूल समझ में आ गई। सचमुच कल किसने देखा है! याचक को बुलवाकर दान दिया गया। शुभस्य शीघ्रम्! सत्कर्म को कभी कल पर मत छोड़ो। उसे तत्काल करो।

हम तो बस आपकी एक मुस्कुराहट पाने के लिए तरसते हैं!

कई बार हम सोचते हैं कि लड़कियों को पटाना ही मुश्किल होता है, सभी मुश्किलें लड़कियों को सेट करने में ही होती है लेकिन यार कभी यह भी तो सोचो कि लड़कियां भी उसी तरह लड़को को पटाने या किसी के प्रेम में पागल होती होंगी.

आज के इस अंश में मैं लड़कियों के लिए ही कुछ प्रेम टिप्स दे रहा हूं, लेकिन यह टिप्स इंटरनेट से ली है लेकिन अंदाज मेरा अपना है और साथ में एक लड़का होने के साथ मेरे अनुभव भी हैं.

सपनों का राजकुमार

हर लड़की का सपना होता है कि उसका प्रेमी या साथी ऐसा हो जिसे उसने सपनों के राजकुमार जैसा देखा हो. अपने लवर में वो उस राज कुमार की छवि ढूंढने की कोशिश करती है लेकिन उसके व्यक्तित्व के कई अनछुए और अनजाने पहलू ऐसे भी होते हैं जो उसके सपनों से ज्यादा महत्वपूर्ण होते हैं जिन्हें वह नहीं जान पाती.

यार लड़कों का बिहेवियर यानी व्यवहार और उनके सोचने का तरीका बिलकुल अलग होता है. इसलिए आपको अपने दोस्त से इस बात की उम्मीद नहीं करनी चाहिए कि वह बिल्कुल बदलकर आपकी तरह हो जाएगा. आपको उसे बदलने की कोशिश भी नहीं करनी चाहिए.

लड़कों के लिए भी प्यार एक बहुत ही नाजुक अहसास होता है. ऐसा नहीं होता कि हर लड़का प्लेयबॉय हो या फ्लर्ट करने में ज्यादा इंट्रेस्टेड  हो. कुछ लड़कों का दिल लड़कियों की तरह ही नाजुक होता है, उन्हें भी प्यार में उसी सम्मान और विश्वास की चाह होती है जैसा लड़कियां चाहती हैं.

समय की पाबंदी

प्यार में समय व्यतीत करना लड़कों के किस्मत में ही लिखा होता है. अक्सर लड़कियों का आरोप होता है कि वक्त के साथ लड़कों का प्यार कम होने लगता है. यार जरा आप (लड़कियां) भी तो सोचो कि क्या लड़के हमेशा खाली रहते है. वक्त बीतने पर जब सामंजस्य बढ़ जाता हैं तब ये उम्मीद कम कर देना चाहिए कि एक प्रेम पत्र के साथ वो रोज सुबह फूलों का गुलदस्ता आपके दरवाजे पर रख कर जाएगा, या फिर पहले की तरह सुबह शाम-फोन पर घंटों बातें किया करेगा. वह दो-तीन दिनों तक आपको फोन ना कर पाए, तो आपको अपनी नाराजगी दिखाते समय यह नहीं भूलना चाहिए कि जिस तरह उसके किसी व्यवहार से आपको दुख पहुंचता है, उसी तरह आपकी भी कुछ बातें उसकी भावनाओं को ठेस पहुंचा सकती हैं.

तारीफ जरुरी है सनम

इसी तरह लड़कियों को यह चीज भी बहुत हर्ट करती है कि लड़के समय बीतने के बाद उनकी तारीफ करनी भी बंद कर देते हैं लेकिन वही लड़कियां न जाने यह क्यों भूल जाती हैं कि वह भी तो लड़कों को नजरअदांज करती हैं. तारीफ सुनना हर व्यक्ति को अच्छा लगता है, लेकिन नारी जैसी निर्मलता पुरुषों में कम होती है. हो सकता है वो आपकी उम्मीद पर पूरी तरह नहीं उतर पाएं, या अपनी भावनाओं को शब्दों में ना ढाल पाएं. आपके किसी तोहफे पर धन्यवाद जैसे औपचारिक शब्दो की उम्मीद रखने की बजाय उसकी आंखों में उतर आयी प्रसन्नता को देखने की कोशिश करें.

लव और सेक्स की पहेली

प्रेम को तो ऋषि मुनियों ने भी पवित्र माना हैं, दैहिक आकर्षण तो एक प्राकृतिक लक्षण हैं जिससे कोई भी परे नहीं रह पाया है. हमारे समाज में कुछ नियमों को संस्कार का रूप दिया है जिसे कई बार युवा वर्ग अपनाने से मना कर देते हैं इसका मतलब ये नहीं कि वो सिर्फ आपसे शारीरिक आकर्षण से जुडा है. यदि आप इन नियमों का पालन करना चाहती हैं तो आप पर निर्भर करता है कि नाराज़ होने या उसका तिरस्कार करने की बजाय प्रेम से समझा पाती हैं या नहीं , दैहिक संबंध से परे एक और चीज़ बहुत महत्वपूर्ण होती है वो है स्पर्श जो उसे प्रियतमा के दैहिक आकर्षण से परे अपनत्व का एहसास दिलाएगा.

होनहार सेल्समेन

एक लड़के को सेल्समेन के इंटरव्यू में इसलिए बाहर कर दिया गया क्योंकि उसे अंग्रेजी नहीं आती थी। लड़के को अपने आप पर पूरा भरोसा था । उसने मैनेजर से कहा कि आपको अंग्रेजी से क्या मतलब ? यदि मैं अंग्रेजी वालों से ज्यादा बिक्री न करके दिखा दूं तो मुझे तनख्वाह मत दीजिएगा।
मैनेजर को उस लड़के बात जम गई। उसे नौकरी पर रख लिया गया।
फिर क्या था, अगले दिन से ही दुकान की बिक्री पहले से ज्यादा बढ़ गई। एक ही सप्ताह के अंदर लड़के ने तीन गुना ज्यादा माल बेचकर दिखाया।
स्टोर के मालिक को जब पता चला कि एक नए सेल्समेन की वजह से बिक्री इतनी ज्यादा बढ़ गई है तो वह खुद को रोक न सका । फौरन उस लड़के से मिलने के लिए स्टोर पर पहुंचा। लड़का उस वक्त एक ग्राहक को मछली पकड़ने का कांटा बेच रहा था। मालिक थोड़ी दूर पर खड़ा होकर देखने लगा।
लड़के ने कांटा बेच दिया। ग्राहक ने कीमत पूछी। लड़के ने कहा - 800 रु. । यह कहकर लड़के ने ग्राहक के जूतों की ओर देखा और बोला - सर, इतने मंहगे जूते पहनकर मछली पकड़ने जाएंगे क्या ? खराब हो जाएंगे। एक काम कीजिए, एक जोड़ी सस्ते जूते और ले लीजिए।
ग्राहक ने जूते भी खरीद लिए। अब लड़का बोला - तालाब किनारे धूप में बैठना पड़ेगा। एक टोपी भी ले लीजिए। ग्राहक ने टोपी भी खरीद ली। अब लड़का बोला - मछली पकड़ने में पता नहीं कितना समय लगेगा। कुछ खाने पीने का सामान भी साथ ले जाएंगे तो बेहतर होगा। ग्राहक ने बिस्किट, नमकीन, पानी की बोतलें भी खरीद लीं।
अब लड़का बोला - मछली पकड़ लेंगे तो घर कैसे लाएंगे। एक बॉस्केट भी खरीद लीजिए। ग्राहक ने वह भी खरीद ली। कुल 2500 रु. का सामान लेकर ग्राहक चलता बना।
मालिक यह नजारा देखकर बहुत खुश हुआ । उसने लड़के को बुलाया और कहा - तुम तो कमाल के आदमी हो यार ! जो आदमी केवल मछली पकड़ने का कांटा खरीदने आया था उसे इतना सारा सामान बेच दिया ?
लड़का बोला - कांटा खरीदने ? अरे वह आदमी तो केयर फ्री सेनिटरी पैक खरीदने आया था । मैंने उससे कहा अब चार दिन तू घर में बैठा बैठा क्या करेगा । जा के मछली पकड़ ......
